Women writers in history

Zovka Kveder (1878-1926), Alma Karlin (1889-1950)

“Every woman should study women's history for at least a year, no matter what she does. Every woman changes when she realizes that she has a story. " (Gerda Lerner)

The concepts that will be discussed in the courses, in the summer schools and in other events will enable thinking about different constructions of gender in and through literature. Students will learn about rich female literary tradition and will be empowered for own agency in the field of literature but also in everyday life. Nevertheless, the answer to the question why we would like to offer to the students a new wider range of competences in the field of women writer’s history and digital humanities is hidden in the words of American historian Gerda Lerner who said: “Women, ignorant of their own history, did not know what women before them had thought and taught. So, generation after generation, they struggled for insights others had already before them, resulting in the constant inventing of the wheel.”

Literature in Praxis: Professional challenges of reading, translating and editing in the digital age

LITPRAX Workshop Novi Sad © Bojana Kovacevic Petrovic

Coordinated by the University of Ljubljana, the main purpose of this project is to train better readers and to provide students of the humanities with the necessary tools to be successful in all book-related professions - whether as teachers, publishers, translators, editors, etc.

In April 2024 the city of Ljubljana will host the LITPRAX Spring school dedicated to theatre production – and a LITPRAX Symposium with participants from Spain, Hungary, Czech Republic and further partner countries. The Project officially ends on June 2024, but a database with several thousands of bibliographic references will assure its sustainability. Other results which will have a long-term impact will be the Curriculum, which is applied in the three universities, and the Manual on contemporary Spanish and Latin American literature, which will be made available worldwide. The LITPRAX Project would have been unimaginable without the long tradition of collaboration between the professors and researchers of the CEEPUS network “Red de Hispanistas de Europa Central”, that is active since 2010. Not only three of the university partners of the LITPRAX project are part of this network, but also many colleagues from other Spanish departments who have been collaborating for years through the CEEPUS programme were actively involved in the activities of the Litprax project and showed their interest in using the results of this project in their teaching and research activities.

What our scholars have to say
Nicholas Chang
Exchange student in Szeged
The very warm welcome that I was received by at the faculty, as well as by the National CEEPUS Office, made me feel like an important guest and not just a number.
Georgi Mladenov
Working on his master thesis in Sorpon (HU)
“My CEEPUS exchange exceeded my expectations. I managed to progress a lot with my thesis and to acquire new skills in the field of mathematics. I made great contacts both with lectures and students. I hope to welcome my colleagues from the University of Sopron in Ruse (BG) next semester.”
Milica Stankovic, PhD
Professor from Nis, Serbia
During my stay in Ljubljana, I had the opportunity to give lectures in the area of Circular Economy and global challenges. The multidisciplinarity of the topic contributed to a great result and an excellent discussion with students from study fields of biology, biotechnology, environmental protection and food technology on the topic of the circular economy. I am sure that this CEEPUS teaching mobility is the first step towards a future successful cooperation.
