Ars Techne: Creative Design and Innovation

Ministerial Awards ceremony in Zagreb, 2019

Ars- techne is a network coordinated by the University of Maribor, that plays an important role in the field of textile education.

An important and visible achievement of the network is a series of international CEEPUS Winter Schools, known as Design Week. Their aim was to cover the whole spectrum of modern engineering design of clothing and/or other textile forms in the broadest sense, including the closely related areas, such as: Art, colour/light theory, fashion theory, photography, wearable computer technology, smart and intelligent clothing, ergonomics of the thermal environment and innovativeness. The aim of an interdisciplinary concept of the Winter Schools is the interaction of different disciplines, the combination of scientific and artistic disciplines and the connection of the creativity of students from different universities and from various countries. Within the framework of the lectures and a wide range of targeted Workshops, the students dealt with the theoretical and practical aspects of design in the broadest sense. The network won the CEEPUS Ministers' Prize of Excellence 2019.

Managing forests for climate change

©kpboonjit / Shutterstock.com

Are you interested in status and trends, globally and locally? Do you want to learn about forest genetic resources or the transfer of forest reproductive material? You want to think about messages for decision makers or the importance of the public awareness?

If yes: welcome to the jungle of ten different CEEPUS Countries. Enjoy the opportunity for our scholars and researchers to build scientific networks through intensive cooperation between scientific and educational institutions. The consortium is located in different parts of Southern Europe and thus in different ecological conditions . From the Mediterranean area in the south, through the alpine areas of the Dinarides mountain range to the Pannonian plain in the north, and from the Alps in the north to the Rhodope mountains in the south. This leads to a huge diversity of ecological conditions, as well as the appearance of different types of forests, the degree and type of threat of forests - due to climate changes.

What our scholars have to say
Dr. Gabriella Vöő
Exchange teacher in Olomouc
There was a large student turnout, the students were interested and they participated in the discussions. I had conversations with colleagues about academic and administrative matters and we also discussed possibilities for joint research projects in the future.
Nicholas Chang
Exchange student in Szeged
The very warm welcome that I was received by at the faculty, as well as by the National CEEPUS Office, made me feel like an important guest and not just a number.
Iva Vujovic
Exchange student in Vienna
I learned a lot from some professors about topics that aren't really talked about much in my home University. And even when we do mention them, it's more theoretical and harder to understand than it is through practical learning, which we did in Vienna.
